Project Manager/Estimator - Masonry Contractor

Large Scale Commercial Masonry Contractor looking for a Project Manager/Estimator.  We are based out of Lawrence, KS and service most areas in Kansas and Western Missouri. Since its inception in 2013, we have seen steady and consistent growth in all areas including revenue, types of buildings and contracts performed, number of employees, and service area. We currently have about 40 experienced team members and expect steady growth moving forward.

Project Manager/Estimator: Will participate in all aspects of the estimating and project management process including but not limited to review of plans and specifications, quantity take-off, pricing, scoping and bidding of construction projects as well as the management of successfully won jobs. Has a leadership role in preconstruction/start-up, schedule, budget, risk, close-out, and warranty issues. Uses a proactive approach on projects and problem solving. Handles complex and/or difficult situations to ensure successful completion of projects. This position will report to the President.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Manage the pricing, bidding and completion of construction projects.
  • Prepare detailed estimates for projects based on construction drawings and specifications by completing quantity take-offs.
  • Communicate with contractors to clarify scope of work, materials, and schedule requirements. Document these clarifications.
  • Manage awarded construction projects from buyout to completion including material submittals and procurement, labor management, coding and paying invoices and collecting payment
  • Pre-plan construction projects to maximize efficiencies on the jobsite
  • Build and maintain positive relationships with vendors, clients and other staff to cultivate a great work environment and culture around the company
  • Monitor jobsite safety and accident prevention with an achievable goal of zero jobsite incidents; actively participate in safety meetings, job walks, and other safety-specific tasks.
  • Understand building codes, zoning ordinances, OSHA requirements and other legal restrictions.
  • Manage punch list process from creation to completion.
  • Handle all internal and external company business and employee information confidentially
  • Actively provide input on improvement of company processes and procedures
  • Other duties may be assigned.
Qualifications :
  • Bachelor's degree in Construction or Engineering related field or 5-10 years of equivalent experience required.
  • Minimum 2-year experience in the construction industry.
  • Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, contract documents, specifications, scopes of work and project schedules.
  • Proven written and verbal communication skills.
  • OSHA 10-hour training or 30 hour training (encouraged)
  • Knowledge of take off software
  • Significant knowledge of project management methodology.
  • Knowledge of strategic planning.
